UC/LCWRA Query
Hi, just looking for some advice / reassurance.
I currently claim UC (paid 7th of each month) including housing & child element for 2 children. I am a single parent. I have been receiving ESA since 03/04/24 & this is deducted from my UC but ends on 03/04/25. I also receive PIP which started 27/02/24.
I was employed full time until 23/06/24. My sickness started 05/09/23. I was receiving some sick pay until 01/01/24 topped up then by UC. I have received full UC payments (due to no earnings) since 07/08/24.
My first paper was submitted to my workplace & UC 05/09/23 & I have submitted new papers for the whole time with no gaps.
I did not receive my UC50 form until 23/12/24 & I returned it on 27/12/24. I have heard nothing since. I wrote a message on my journal 2 weeks ago & was told to contact the helpline. I called & was told the form was received by them on 15/01/25 & this is being reviewed. They will let me know the outcome?
I’m just wondering if it is normal to take this long? Also, do they award LCWRA without assessment or do you have to go through an assessment to qualify?
Had anyone else found themselves in this position with it taking so long?
I’m so confused about what I should get and from when 🤷🏻♀️

Most people have an assessment by phone or in person. Sometimes they do a paper based assessment which has minimal or no input from the claimant, but this is rare.
Wait times for an appointment vary, sometimes people have one within weeks, others wait months and months.
It really depends on the workload of the health assessment provider.
