UC migration

Hi folks

Got a managed migration to UC mixed aged couple, my partner is retired and getting state pension I am a few years younger and another 2 years to go untill I reach state pension age.

My quibble is the photo id, my wife does not drive or travel, so no photo ID, she is house bound due to several disablities and claims pip and I am claiming carers allowance and getting IS. I have a driving licence, my wife feels that she should not have to jump through hoops to verify who she is by getting either a driving licence or a passport, she does have an out of date blue badge that has her photo on it, but never renewed as she finds it incredibly difficult to even get to the end of the path let alone to the road where the car is parked.

We would prefer to do it all online, but the id verification is now starting to stress my wife out which in turn has a negative effect on my own state of mind, we are not that computer literate but feel able to fill out a form and upload documents but again the photo id is going to stump us, so sooner get advice on what to do without going through the DWP on the phone as we both have speech impediments and find using telephones stressfull, even the phone ringing can have an awful effect on my wife.

Anyway, thanks very much if you have managed to read this far and thanks to all who offer advice on the ol verifying ID malarky, every other step seems easily doable bar that one. Cheers.

El Gato.

Just to add, I have done a search here, perhaps something I should have done before posting? and have found quite a bit of information, no Idea why I was under the impression one had to register to search the forum, maybe confused with another website? as said not that literate computer wise. So thanks to the search facility here have found many answers that have put my partner at ease which in turn makes my world that little bit easier, the folk answering the concerns of others here is very heartwarming, nice to see folk giving great advice, wish I was in a place to offer it, maybe when through this process I may be able to help other mixed age couples? lovely website if I may say so and very glad I joined.

Citizens Advice offer a Help to Claim service

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/claiming/contact-us-about-universal-credit/

This can be accessed by web chat.

A home visit by the DWP to verify identity is an option, but there will be a wait which potentially could delay your first payment.

She can offer the expired BB and other documents that would verify her identity.
