Poem time: Last one of the year?
Last poem before Christmas and New Year.
Well, here we are in 22, the year has almost gone
I’m looking forward to the new one, and the festive cheer.
I’ve had a funny sort of year, with things not going to well,
Its had its up’s and down, but, you know, what the hell.
But now were at the end, its time just to reflect
And see what Santa brings us, at this time of year.
Is it that Wrist watch, or that pair of shoes,
Or a change of car, maybe in Red or Blue.
Is it about the presents? or lots of festive cheer?
To me its about family, because of all of last year,
The pandemic I think made its mark, and would not let any one out.
In 2021, waited all the year through, to see family and friends,
to be told, stay at home, you’re not allowed out.
Now this applied to everyone, or so it would have seemed
But some had other ideas and thought they would not be seen.
I don’t want to reflect, on what others have done,
but to go forward, so, I’m heading for the sun.
I’ve decided this year, with all the cold and snow,
to leave that all to Santa, and his trusty slay, to have a go.
I’m on a flight to Florida with all the hot weather and warm water,
OH yes when I get there, I’ll be sure to say, Hello.
I jumped on to a flight, in shorts and Hawaiian shirt,
Only to be greeted by an icy wind of over -35?
I stood on that tarmac, I thought this can’t be right?
I’ve jumped on the wrong plane, and should have warned me while I was up in mid-flight.
I’ve now got 2 weeks of Christmas, in -35, it was warmer in my hotel rooms fridge,
Where its only -5?
The moral of the story, is make the best of what you have,
because the grass is not always greener when your sat in -35.
Merry Christmas everyone here and enjoy your own creature comforts with family and friends, its not as bad as you think here in Britain even if its only 55 C?
