I’m new here so any advice would be welcome.
Feeling very anxious whilst waiting for a decision on my PIP claim.
Telephone assessment on 2/12/22
Text from DWP on 12/12/22 to say report received
Text from DWP on 27/12/22 to say “we have still not made a decision “
I called them today as this is really giving me anxiety and was told that it should take another week and I will get a text once it’s been decided.

This has worried me as I see many members have had a decision text pretty soon after a the no decision made text and this has made me think I’ve not been successful.
I cannot believe how stressed this is making me
Grateful for any support

Hi @Jane888 - & welcome to the community. I'm sorry the wait is making you feel anxious, but unfortunately it can take up to 12 weeks to receive a decision letter. The last text you received is just standard, & doesn't mean your claim isn't successful, just that a decision hasn't been made yet.

Hi @Jane888 and thanks for reaching out, I'm sorry to hear how stressed the wait to hear about your PIP claim is making you. It's never easy waiting, no matter how long it's for.
How do you feel the assessment went for you?
If you can try and focus on things which help you to de-stress and relax, I know it's not easy, but it would be helpful to put this at the back of your mind for a bit. Remember, you've done everything you need to

Hi All
Anyone in a similar position ?Assessment on 2/12/22
No decision text 27/12/22
So I have been clearly worried that I would not be awarded as I’m still waiting.I have now received a copy of my assessment ( I requested) and my points score me over 8 on the daily living and mobility which I think enables me to be awarded. Phew. But I am still anxious being as I haven’t actually had any confirmation.Anyone in a similar position?Jane0 -
Hello again @Jane888, waiting can definitely add to feelings of worry, I understand, it's difficult to say how long a decision will take.
As there's a backlog the DWP are working through, most decisions are taking anywhere between 2-12 weeks after the assessment.
It's likely the decision maker will go with what's been recommended in the report, but it's not guaranteed as they'll be taking into account all the evidence, including the form you submitted.
Scope does has some information on the PIP rates which you might find helpful:For the daily living allowance
Your weekly amount will be:
£61.85 for standard rate (8 to 11 points)
or £92.40 for enhanced rate (12 or more points)
For the mobility component
Your weekly amount will be:
£24.45 for standard rate (8 to 11 points)
or £64.50 for enhanced rate (12 or more points)
For now try to focus on things that will help take your mind off the wait, and don't hesitate to reach out if you'd like help with anything else0 -
Are you aware that you add the mobility and daily living activities separately? You need to score at least points in either and/or each part.Decisions can take anything up to 12 weeks after the report was returned to DWP. They mostly go with the report but it has been known for them to go against it. The report is a recommendation and not the decision.0

Hi yes my report is easy to understand and work out using the points descriptions on the DWP guidelines. My assessment report was very accurate in my ability’s and reflected well my needs .0

@Jane888 How long were you waiting for your assessment report after requesting it if you don't mind me asking?0
-
Hi
i got my report 3days after my request
and a least you can get an idea of what to prepare for .0 -
@Jane888 I requested mine on the 30th and still haven't recieved it. I wanted it for that exact reason. I don't want to call them again either. It took me ages to build up the courage the first time.0

I guess it either wasn’t sent or it got lost in the post ?
Dont worry about calling them again to re request it because not knowing and waiting is really stressful. I found it helped me to understand how my assessment went and what to prepare for.1 -

Royal Mail still have some backlogs in some areas. I receive a letter on the weekend that was dated from November. Even in normal times it's not unusual to wait a couple of weeks for mail from DWP.

I may have been fortunate then . When I spoke to DWP she printed the report off and mailed it whist I was on the phone. Dated the day I rang . 2nd class post .0

@Jane888 I just called to request another copy. The guy was super helpful. Said he'd send another out to me. I queried how long before a decision. He said it's taking around 4 weeks though as there is a small backlog and I should have my decision any day now as its been 4 weeks 2 days for me.0

I’m happy with my report . It was fair . Just waiting to hear now …..1

Well DizzyPots I hope it’s soon we all hears it’s super stressful waiting ….1

I just want to make sure you're aware that those 4 weeks you were advised by the call centre person you spoke to is more like up to 12 weeks. Those call centre staff often make things up as they go along. I don't want you thinking the worst if a decision hasn't been made any day now.

@poppy123456 Thank you for your advice. I'll be sure to come back and give an update.0

Hi @poppy123456
I'm looking for a bit of advice.
I've finally recieved a copy of my assessment report and adding up the points it looks like I've scored 11 for daily living and 0 for mobility.
The mobility part is what I expected and for the most part, daily living is pretty accurate. However there is one question I dispute. When would I query this? Is it when I've had my decision or do I contact them now? Any help is much appreciated.0
