I have been on UC since September 2022 and at the weekend housing benefit have dramatically reduced my support from them, I'm so confused and just as I was used to budgeting i feel like I have to start again ??
The only reason I can think of is my employers paid an extra £300 in my wages in December I'm not sure if it was back payment (swear I was under minimum wage for 3 months ?? )
Suffering daily with ill health wondering if it's worth it ( benefit calculator made no sense.....again??!!)
Any help much appreciated 🙏

You mention UC and then housing benefit. Unless you're either living in supported or temporary housing then your rent will be covered through UC known as housing element.UC is based on earnings received during your monthly assessment period. Therefore the more earnings you receive the less UC you will be entitled to and it will be the whole of your UC that will be reduced, not just part of it.You should have had a wage slip from your employer and it should tell you on there why you were paid the extra £300. Maybe you were paid early because of Christmas? Is your earnings usually this amount or is it more than this?0
