in Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
I receive ESA and Pips and was under the impression that you cannot get free prescriptions if you receive pips but someone told me you can if you are receiving ESA payments you do. I do not work due to ongoing health reasons

    What type of ESA do you receive? 

    You may find it helpful to use the NHS' checker to see what support you can get with these kinds of costs. It only takes around 3 minutes to complete.

    PIP on it's own doesn't entitle you to free prescriptions if you live in England. Whether your ESA will entitle you will depend what your ESA claim is. If you started your claim after December 2018 then it's very likely to be New style ESA and this doesn't entitle you to free prescriptions.
