Hi!
Well, this is my first post here.
Ten years ago my life was turned upside down by a stroke. Three months after the stroke a series of heart attacks and finally a quad bypass operation reminded me of my mortality...
I guess I'm in a much better place than I was ten years ago. I fall over quite a lot, can't really walk in a straight line (A stick helps), have no peripheral vision to my left and can't read any more (I don't see words any more, just groups of letters). This list is significantly better than it was a few years ago.
What's brought me here though, is I'm looking for advice on some things which I feel are totally out of my control.
Alas I can no longer deal with loud, noisy or busy environments. When we go shopping, if the store is busy we'll leave and come back later. I'll never go to a football match again or wander round a shopping centre on a saturday morning.
The problem for me, though is trying to explain this to the family. I think my wife finally understands but my daughter really doesn't. She was 15 when I had my stroke, but now she's 25 and has three kids. She really doesn't understand why we can't babysit three kids all under ten.
It causes so many arguments in the family and I just don't know what to do about it.
