Social housing any advice

I posted about my housing a while back but thought I would give sort of update

my local council won’t let me register for social housing as I have no priority housing needs

im currently in a room in a converted house and I don’t feel safe here, as it was originally a house the rooms are tiny and the walls are paper thin, I have a neighbour that constantly runs his tap and the other side shouts at himself making silly noises

i have a drug addict downstairs that keeps getting arrested and an alcoholic downstairs

i asked my gp for an asd assessment over a year ago but as I was on the waiting list to speak to a psychologist they wouldn’t give me the asd unless my psychologist referred me

I’ve discussed my issues and anxiety around my housing situation but they told me they couldn’t help, it ended with me shouting at her and telling her that she can’t help me so no point in carrying on and that I want to be referred for the asd she was asking me why I wanted the asd I told her I want help and the diagnosis for my own peace of mind

anyway instead of doing the asd she is carrying on with the psychology appointments to help with my anxiety which while I’m living where I am won’t help

its the stability I need hence why I need social housing I have so much worry as all my belongings are at my parents house and if anything were to happen to them I have no idea where my stufff would end up

i contacted the lgsco about my social housing situation but they sided with the council

can anyone offer any advice who I can contact to help me with social housing ?

im not eating or sleeping

thanks and sorry about the long post

the shortage is the main problem however if I have to wait 10-15 years that’s something for me to aim at whereas now I have nothing

It’s not easy when you’re single, even with disabilities. I’m not saying it’s impossible though but the waiting list is likely to be very long.. many years.

I don’t understand the reason why they are refusing you to even put your name down on the housing list.

Your own option maybe to look at privately renting but that won’t be easy either if you rely on benefits to help pay your rent. Landlords just don’t like us. If you do manage to find someone they may ask for a guarantor too.

I contacted shelter who asked me my issue and said they have lots of calls but would transfer my case to a solicitor but I may not hear back which I didn’t

I contacted my mp their receptionist again asked me to relay my issues so they could make me an appt with my mp, however the reply I received was that my mp knows about social housing issues and they are raising it frequently in parliament that was the end of that

im unsure why they won’t even let me put my name down, I’ve told them I understand it will be many years to even be offered a property but they still won’t let me put my name down

@apples just would like to write please that I do understand that you do not feel safe at your place and I got more anxiety  and depression at the place where I live now and don’t have enough strength and energy to move and to find another place myself

I have tried approaching another area but they require me to have been living in the area for at least 5 years

That applies to a lot of local Authorities, unless you have a connection to that area.
