Mars and humanity

I don't think that humans will make it to Mars for a long time - if ever
Simply down to the amount of resources that they will need to take with them on this one way trip.
Specifically food - water can be created/recycled but not food
I mean, food for a 9 month journey for a 6 person crew plus would weigh over a ton - which would be too much for a spacecraft.
"Replicators" (Star Trek) have not yet been invented
Any one like to comment ?

Maybe the solution is to develop a faster spaceship?

That comment is from a position of ignorance, I don’t know anything about space travel but I do find it fascinating.

I don’t know why they spend billions on space travel unless they are trying to hedge their bets via a vis a giant asteroid hitting earth! “mars ain’t the kinda place to raise your kids...” as the song goes.
