Hi Everybody my name is PollyPick, I have a disable son who lives at home unfortunately we live in a village that hasn't been too warm in their welcome, so this past Christmas I posted Christmas cards through all the doors to see who was human enough to respond - it was great had response from nearly all but that's as far as it gone so far will try better when the weather returns to some normality and I can get outside and deal with the front garden; - just had a downpour of snow, looked pretty but gone now and its quite cold. How is with all of you ?

Welcome
That's a good result with the Christmas cards. Now you know there are some nice people in the village. I actually find a lot of people are unfriendly on the surface but are all right when you get to know them.0 -
Welcome to the community @pollypick
It's good to have you with us!
It can be hard reaching out to neighbours, so I'm glad the sending Christmas cards worked well.
I don't think we've had any snow here, but it's really cold and frosty.0 -
Hi @PollyPick welcome to our great group, i think that was a lovely thing to do with Christmas cards, winter can be a bit quiet outside so hopefully you will have more chats with the new neighbours come the spring.0

Hi Everyone
Lovely to hear from you, hope your day has gone well - today was bright, quite cold but quiet, our village isn't what you call handicapped friendly - well I mean wheelchair friendly, so we cannot go out for good proper walks but I don't know about any of you I get fed up with having to drag a vehicle out each time the sun shines.0 -
Hi @PollyPick. Lovely to hear from you too. My day has gone well thank you. How has your day gone?
It sounds really difficult that your village isn't what you call 'handicapped friendly' / 'wheelchair friendly'.
Is there anything which might help proper walks to be more achievable for you at the moment?

Hello L_Volunteer, lovely to hear from you, We live at the far end of the village and to get to the shops would be a lovely walk on a sunny day BUT you cannot use the sidewalks because they are narrow and in some places slant which makes it difficult to control a wheelchair OR its uneven either that or take your chance and walk in the road (very dangerous) so we can go to the end of the main road to the junction and that is about the most we could really do, everything is in the opposite direction, so if I have to get the vehicle out I make the most of it and leave the village completely. We are desperately trying to move away from here but its proved very difficult, my age and my son's disability seem to put a different light on our situation!? Hoping though 2023 will prove a better year but so far the weather isn't very kind to wheelchair users, it would be nice to have a 'remote control' for that0
