Hello my name is Jane, I have a question about pip . I have received pip basic daily living for several years . My fibro problems and others are worst . We filled in a new change of circumstances form . I am having pain walking and use a stick when ever out . I was assessed in hospital for a blue badge , I received one on the grounds of my walking . My pip review came back saying with no new medical reports they deemed I could walk aided or unaided more than 50 meters and no more than 200 m , score 4 . So that means no mobility payment . They know I have a blue badge , so if I qualify for one government rule why not another . The blue badge assessment was done in person , watching me struggle walking . The pip assessment was judged on paper . Is this fair is this correct . Any help welcomed thank you

Hi there welcome to the community unfortunately I can't help with PIP aa I can't give you accurate advice. I have a blue badge and didn't need a face to face assessment. why not have fun in the coffee lounge where we can play games and have a laugh together. I hope I see you you as an active part of the community

Hello there @janemid and welcome, thanks for your query, I'm sorry to hear your change of circumstances form didn't lead to the outcome you were hoping for. You should be able to challenge the decision which has been made with a Mandatory Reconsideration.
If you wanted to read an overview of the options for challenging a decision, Turn2Us also explains things nice and clearly.
Equally, if you'd prefer to run through things with one of our advisers, you can also call or email the Scope Helpline too.
If there's anything you're unsure of, please do ask, and we'll do what we can to help.0 -
A Blue badge has completely different criteria to PIP mobility. If you disagree with the decision you can request the MR.

I did a mandatory consideration over the phone . Later I had a telephone call from the DWP , I was in a very emotional state , pain and frustration . Nice lady listened to me . A week later I got a letter and was awarded daily living enhanced and standard mobility . I'm entitled to a carer but can't get anyone eligible to claim the allowance , nobody I know earns less than £130 a week except myself (no income only pip) . My hubby is worn-out looking after me and working full time . I have a retired friend who helps. I'm paying towards bills with my extra pip to enable him to not work overtime. Everything is so expensive , food ,heating (I'm always cold) his basic pay leaves us with nothing extra . Life for disabled people and their carers is so hard . I'm dragging my leg along , stiff fingers , numb toes , constant pain. Not the nice life I imagined at 56 . I'm so grateful for the extra money though . Shropshire Adult social care are assessing me and hubby next month for any help needed . Please people fight for yourselves , nobody gives it you on a plate. It's exhausting and stressful but try . Good luck and wishing your pains, and worries away . Jane x

It sounds positive that the lady listened to you @janemid. It sounds really difficult that you can't seem to find a carer within the circle of people you are most familiar with though.
Do you feel able to look for a carer externally, outside of the circle of people you are most familiar with? I am just thinking this might provide you with a larger number of people to choose from.
I can really hear and empathise with how difficult things are, especially with the increase in daily payments and general costs.
Wishing you the best of luck with the assessment. How are you feeling about this at the moment? Self-advocacy is so important, and one of the strengths I noticed within your response.
Please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything we can do to support you, even if that is just extending a listening ear0
