Do you mean that you have never claimed child benefit for them?
Why do you need their National Insurance numbers so urgently? I thought children had to stay in full time education until they are 18 years old now.
If you need them and for some reason they are not on the system then of course someone will need to apply for the National Insurance numbers and who better than their Mother? You will probably need to take their birth certificates into the Job Centre.0 -
We claimed child benefit when they were born hmrc said they have lost them off the system all i wanted to know is if i go up to job center tommrrow and give there birth certificate they will be able to help and the reson why i want them ASAP os because they both can start a part time job Friday next week0

NI numbers have nothing to do with a local Job centre or DWP. HMRC deal with those. I don't understand what you mean by this..marcus93 said:hmrc said they have lost them off the systemIf you're still claiming child benefit for them then that suggests they can't be lost off the system. Full details here. https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-numberYou can also ring the NI helpline number. National Insurance number application helpline (England, Scotland and Wales)

Hello @marcus93. How are you feeling about the advice you have been given regarding going to the job centre?
According to UCL, you can indeed call the Jobcentre Plus on 0800 141 2075 to apply for a national insurance number.
Another resource you might find useful is the Government's webpage about a lost national insurance number.
In particular, the Government's webpage provides details for:- Finding your national insurance number online
- Finding your national insurance number on a document
- What to do if you still cannot find your national insurance number
- What to do if you've never had a national insurance number
I hope this is at least semi-helpful and you are able to locate your national insurance number soon.
In the meantime, please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything else we can do to support you with this0 -
NI numbers are normally issued just before 16th birthday.
in this case it appears that that hasn’t happened. They therefore need to contact HMRC.

National Insurance letters with the number on it are viewable on individuals government gateway accounts. I’m not sure how old you have to be to register for one of those account but it’s worth checking to see if they can at 16 (I can’t see why they couldn’t)
it’s worth registering for it anyway because it shows things like pension progress and national insurance contributions, etc.
I don’t know how to do link on here but if you go to https://www.access.service.gov.uk/login/signin/creds
Did it do it automatically? 😂
anyway if you’re able to register them for an account, it can be done there somewhere there.
You may have to make a call but it is again, worth it. Take care. 😊
Edit to add:
this should take you to the application start page https://www.gov.uk/personal-tax-account0 -

@poppy123456 I appreciate what you’re saying but not having received a letter does not mean that they haven’t been allocated an NI. It just means that whomever they spoke to were unable to find the information on their systems, which could be due to other reasons.I’m just saying that having a government gateway account is a way to view all of those things, and if after registering an account they find the NI letter isn’t showing on it they can proceed with chasing it up in other ways. But there’s also a chance that the letters are on there.I’m only trying to give them the option to rule it out or not, before pursuing it another way that may prove lengthy, or not.Trying to be helpful, nothing more. 😊1

Hi there @marcus93! Hope the above comments have been helpful and all your questions are now answered. I would suggest calling the NI Helpline to query about both of your son’s lost NI numbers. All the best to your son’s with their new jobs!! 😊0
