hi everyone, I’m new to all this PIP claiming thing lol due to siatica arthritis and other issues I was advised to apply I actually applied last year around October, sending my information in, them saying they haven’t received it tho next day my documents ware sent back had video assessment on 5th January and a txt to let me know I’ve been awarded it if need to wait on the letter to explain I’ve been told payment will be back dated but that’s highly unlikely lol 😂

Providing you're not transferring from DLA, your PIP award will be from the date you rang to start your claim. Providing you had the difficulties for at least 3 months at that time.

Thanks, they had me down as my maiden name so had to send documents in, then with the postal strikes, so form was delayed got 2 at once. No I’m on universal credit card and limited capacity to work don’t know if I need to cancel LCW really don’t have a clue lol0

I think that may have been a typo. PIP isn't means tested so won't have a negative impact on your UC claim. Are you claiming UC with a partner or is it a single claim? Are you claiming for help with any rent?

On my own I receive uc and a payment for handing in sick line tho I don’t have to hand them in any more and still get sick money0

This is what I receive

So you're a single person and you're renting from social housing because you're affected by the bedroom tax.If your PIP includes the daily living part, you maybe able to claim for an extra bedroom if you need regular overnight care. If this is needed once you know what PIP award you have, if it includes the daily living part then you can report the changes and tell them that regular overnight care is needed. It will then be down to a decision maker to make that final decision.See link for more information. https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/benefits/how_many_bedrooms_you_can_claim_benefits_for
Overnight carers
You get payment for an extra bedroom if anyone in your household receives overnight care on a regular basis from a non resident carer and gets any of the following benefits:
PIP - daily living component
DLA - middle or high care component
attendance allowance - higher rate if you get HB; any rate if you get UC
Other than that you will continue to receive your UC as normal. When you receive your PIP decision letter it will give you details of where you scored the points, what award you have and what day of the week you will receive your money, it's paid 4 weeks in arrears.

@Hannah_Scope yes definitely I’d been waiting since October so was a surprise when checking my account didn’t get the letter till a week later thankfully no more stress xx1

I've found, reading on here, a lot of people are getting their letters late because of the royal mail strikes.
Glad there is no more stress!1
