I'm new here.....had back surgery 12 years ago that didn't work. Now I'm in worse shape. I wake up in pain....go to bed in pain. Little relief during the day. Going to pain management. Getting meds but not enough. Run out after about 15 days of a 28 day script and have to suffer until refill time. Trying to work a job in pain is almost impossible. Tired of living like this.....well tired of living period. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Good morning @Jdfan welcome to our great group.
I'm so sorry to hear your not in a good place with your pain at the moment, it's not a nice feeling at all.
Have you tried having a chat with any of the Doctors, just to see if there is any better pain relief you can try, i know it can be hard to find one that works for you, but there may be other solutions out there.
There is a pain management group on the forum, you will find it under Categories, see if you can get any advice/ideas from others.

Hello @Jdfan
I'm so sorry you are in so much pain. I echo sue in saying it may be worth going back to chat with your GP. Are you still under a specialist at the hospital from when you had your surgery? It may be worth contacting them for advice as well.
Can I also ask, do you have a good support system around you?0 -
Thanks Hannah and Sue. No support group. I have a wife and daughter but they don't understand the amount of pain that I'm in. They don't seem too concerned. I take my last pain pill in the morning but it won't last me very long. I can't get my refill until next Friday. I know you aren't supposed to take more than prescribed but i'm doing all I can to keep moving so I can keep my job. It is soooo frustrating. The days til next friday will seem endless. I wish I had meds to fall back on but I feel my pain management doctor isn't going to do anymore than what he's doing now.
I also forgot to put in my intro that I also have severe restless leg syndrome so sleep is also hard to come by. I would give anything to have a normal life or just be pain free for one day.0 -
Bless you @Jdfan i know it's really hard with constant pain and you should really be trying to not take all your meds so close together, time to talk again with your Doctor about this please or look on our site for other peoples ldeas on how we help manage our pain. Have you tried any of the hot or cold theropies or any excersises or meditation, some times we have to supliment the pain relief the Doc's give us with other things like pain gels and the above ideas.1

Hi @Jdfan, I am so sorry to hear about the situation and the pain you are in. I know from friends who have had severe back pain that the effects on their family lives and impact on work is a big issue.
I am not sure if the doctor has referred you for physiotherapy but this might be another option on top of pain relief.0
