Who would you invite? and why?
I'll go first;
- My ancestor, Thomas. He was the brother of my great grandfather and basically has fallen off the face of the earth when it comes to records. A mystery relative and I'd like to know why.
- Audrey Hepburn. I love her, she is an idol of mine and I think she would have so many stories about the "old Hollywood days".
- Stephen Fry. Another with amazing stories and amazing facts.
- Cleopatra. I have always been interested in Egypt's history and keen to talk with her as she was the last ruler before Egypt became a province of the Roman Empire.
- My grandmother. Because I miss her

Nigel Slater - I find him interesting to listen to, & particularly enjoyed his series, which I think was called 'A Taste of My Life' where he talked to celebrities about the food they'd enjoyed throughout their lives.Rick Stein - Nigel may just continue talking & not cook me the perfect meal, so always handy to have another chef on standby, but I'd also be interested in talking to him as well. (Might need to invite Michel Roux Jnr as a standby!)Oliver Sacks - neurologist & writer, as I'd love to discuss the amazing patients he'd met.Paul Newman - my favourite actor, but also a philanthropist.Salvador Dali - as he's my favourite artist. Just hope he brings a translator & leaves a small, signed pencil sketch behind.@Hannah_Scope - have you tried looking at parish registers? I got stuck after a while, & these proved helpful if you're looking before 1837: https://parishregister.co.uk/ We had what we thought was only a story about 2 brothers leaving for America after they'd lost their older brother in a mining accident. We ended up emailing the descendent of one of them in Florida. Don't give up.

For me:Dr Christian Barnard to see how he felt when he completed the first heart transplant.
Enoch Powell to get his side of the story (contentious)
Chaka Zulu to see how he felt about his nation crumbling to invaders
My maternal gran because she was a **** at cheating in games (she died at 54 following a stroke in 1973)
Winston Churchill so that he can say "never, in the field of entertainment, has a table had so many interesting people round it". Hopefully he would also talk about his catastrophic Gallipoli plan.

@chiarieds Thank you, I have tried parish records. It's later than 1837, early 1900s he disappears. I know he passed away as the 1911 England & Wales Census tells me that from the number of children had, living and died. Currently in talks with local regiments and churches in case some records were lost damaged or just not uploaded yet. Keeping my fingers crossed that's the right avenue! 🤞0
