This is the site to come if you have disability or benefit related advice, lots of misinformation regarding those subjects on Mumsnet. It's great for general chat but not a good source of reliable advice. Welcome and I'm sure any questions you have will be answered.0

Would just like to ask some advice?? So back in Nov i applied for PIP. I had a road traffic accident in November 1999 i was 19 at the time im now 40. I was the only survivor and had horrific injuries . Anyway growing up i kind on got on with life and didn’t have much pain but i always felt a troumendous amount of guilt surviving when my two close friends died , i started using alcohol to self medicate it was a regular thing . I was told i would never naturally give birth because my pelvis was shattered so this just put me off having children . Fast forward to 34 i had my implant taken out my arm for medical reasons and within the 2 weeks of waiting for a new one to be inserted fell pregnant. I have a beautiful little boy who is now 6. But since having him alcohol was no longer a way to self medicate and at that time all my problems that i had drunk through in past came back to haunt me , I tried every medication you can think of to control it , i had reactions to anti depressants that then put me off wanting to take them so the list goes on with what they tried me on and nothing work. I had therapy I couldn’t talk about it so the sessions ended , on a basis i can resturn wen I’m ready . I suffer with savere anxiety and depression disorder PTSD I have nightmares wen i do sleep its just ongoing , I don’t go out very much due to my anxiety . Wen i do its literally to just get what i need and straight home again we’re i feel comfortable. I take strong pain relief each day because i walk with a limp. Basically i now suffer with all the pain , i feel like im 80 and not 40. Wen I applied for pipi was refused , it came back with 0 points on every question. I don’t a MA, On this occasion I sent all medical records from my doctor , a letter from my therapist and a letter from myself , stating yes i can cook but it takes me longer , i can bath again it takes me longer , i don’t even know what 200 meteres would be but i know I can’t walk far without pain occurring . Anyway my question is last week on Friday the DWP called me to ask me if i had been in prison or a care home and a couple more questions about how things effect me . He said he was making his decision that day and i should receive a letter this week. I thought it would be a good thing , I haven’t received a letter yet but has anyone else has the same situation .i had a friend who applied for pip and won it first time and all she got was 24 pound per week , im not turning my nose up because everything helps but this amount seems ridiculous. Im just also worried i might still get refused . Thank you fir reading xx0

Hello @GEMZY3333
ooo sounds exciting! I love redecorating a space and having it all fresh. There are still delays with PIP and with Royal Mail, I'd say if you haven't heard anything by the beginning of next week to give them a call and see if the letter will have to be sent again. Just to let you know, to look out for an email from community@scope.org.uk0 -
Hi Hanna , thank you for replying . I thought it might just be a hiccup with the Royal Mail , I’ll wait until next week , i think the thought of having to go to a tribunal just makes more anxious . As i stated in my clip and im not sure if i put to much information on there , but it’s just a ongoing battle and the anxiety is ridiculous i shall let you all know how things go xx1

Hi good morning . Just wondering if anyone knows the answer , i stated above i initially applied back in November first time got no points , done a mandatory appeal and then received the phone call last week , anyway checked my bank this morning I received 331 pound , does this mean i have qualified for the 24.40 per week only ? As it would make sense if it’s was back dated still no letter xx0
-
It's possible you've only qualified for standard mobility, backpay is usually paid before the normal 4:weekly payments, sometimes backpay is delayed to pay money owed to the DWP like overpayments or budgeting loans. Have you received the letter yet, that will explain the award.0
-
No letter yet im guessing its the basic amount cos everyone seems to be getting back payment before hand , i can’t see why they would pay first before what’s owed xx0
-
It could be standard mobility then, you'll know for sure when the award letter shows up, probably in a couple of days.1
-
I thought that , juat seems like another headache happening soon . As I will now need to take it To the tribunal. Does anyone know how to go about that xx0

Thank you Hannah, that’s very helpful i shall look later , i still have not received the letter , so when I have received it ill take it from there . Talk about unwanted anxiety . Do tribunals take long ?? Is possible I could be waiting months again to hear anything xx0
-
As far as I am aware, Tribunals don't have a set time limit.0

Hi recieved my letter guys and it was what I thought ,I’ve submitted my tribunal appeal on gov ,im not sure what will happen next lets see x0
