When claiming either of those benefits it doesn't mean you can't still have a life, whether this means visiting your mum and helping her sometimes, or just generally going out.

Thanks 😊 for the reply I appreciate it.. I'm still really unsure What's going to happen now..., I'm off to take Some Diazepam should help 👍🏻0

Nothing will happen, your benefits will continue as normal. Lots of people are carers while claiming both those benefits.

Hello @Leedswhites1985
It won't effect your benefit. I was on Limited Capability to work and I was still going and picking up shopping for the parents. Like Poppy said, just because you claim doesn't mean you can't have a life.
I just wanted to comment and check that you feel you have good mental health support?1 -
Thanks @Hannah_Scope 🙂 the Anxiety Of the last 48 Hours had been really Crippling .. Your message has just brought of a Sense of Calm , It's so Nice not to feel Alone When Struggling with Complex Mental Health issues .. I know people say don't worry , but That's like a trigger Then your worrying about 50 different scenario's one after the other , I was under care of a mental health team but was discharged Saying my issues were too complex for them to help anymore0

I was a catastrophic thinker @Leedswhites1985. My Psychologist did a lot of hours working on it with me, as it was impacting so much on my quality of life. Have a look at the link. Especially the What If's worksheets (under cognitive restructuring) I'm not fully 'cured' but have learned what is rational and what is negative.
An example ... if my daughter was embarking on a car journey I would sit by the computer checking travel reports for up to 4 hours straight until she messaged.
https://positivepsychology.com/decatastrophizing-worksheets/
I'm also suffering from GAD, social anxiety, depression and PTSD ... but getting there. Wherever 'there' is ... but it's definitely better than where I was
Good luck
( I should imagine being a Leeds fan is no fun at the moment)

@WelshBlue Interesting and helpful to hear your Story too & Thank you for the information you have Shared & I will definitely check the links you sent ..It's hard sometimes isn't to Learn What is Rational and What isn't , especially during a panic attack Or the middle of a Shock and Trauma flashback.. What's GAD ? Like you I suffer with Severe Anxiety & Depression , PTSD .. Do you still see your Psychologist? Welsh Blue 💙 Are you a Cardiff City Fan ? Yeah supporting Leeds Doesn't help my Anxiety either 🤣0

Please correct me if I am wrong @WelshBlue but, @Leedswhites1985, GAD usually stands for generalised anxiety disorder.
How is everyone feeling at the moment? Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can do anything to help, we are all here for you, listening to you and care about all of you1 -
You're quite correct @L_Volunteer ... generalised anxiety disorder. Anything and everything. Hence the catatastrophising.
@Leedswhites1985 ... I hear you. Differentiating between real and perceived can be difficult. Which is why 'grounding' to the here and now is so important ... especially with PTSD. Easy to say it's a memory and memories can't hurt you - pressing the switch in your brain to believe it, is different. Mindfulness, breathing techniques etc have been a saviour for me. Once I got a clear enough head to get into it
I do still see my psychologist. We had 18 months initially in which we did exposure therapy for the PTSD, a six month break in which I relapsed and now six months in to the second round where we are gearing up towards EMDR.
Remember to be kind to yourself, the anxiety and depression go hand in hand with the PTSD, the mind is a wonderful thing - not so wonderful when it's out of sync' ... I'm always here to sound out to
Nah not a Cardiff fan ... Chelsea for 50 years ... they haven't exactly done my mind any good this season
Good luck and as I say ... always here to sound off to0
