Hi my name is kemcdo6862 , I’m new to this site and it is 4.15am another sleepless night due to my nearly 30 years of mostly not coping with mental health issues which like a lot off people have gotten worse and untreatable.
I receive for the first time enhanced PIP for daily living needs basically nothing for mobility which I just don’t understand as I only get anywhere by taxi and even with professional help I have hardly been for a walk since before Covid hit.
In my letter they say they owe me money and will send me a letter about this but I’ve just remembered about this and I haven’t received anything from them since 24th November 2022 .
Is this usual to have to wait this long and I spent a small fortune on taxis I totally disagree with the mobility part and points I get .
If anyone could help me please do my email addresse is available I think and any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading a small part of my story.

I can't comment regarding the delay in owed money, but regarding the mobility component you either have to be : unable to leave the home due to psychological distress or need to be accompanied on familiar or unfamiliar journeys to receive an award for mental health. You say you travel around in taxis, is that by yourself, how often do you go out? If you barely go out due to psychological distress you could get an award for mobility, the same if you need to be accompanied when travelling outside for the majority of the time. But not both at the same time. If you can travel around in taxis unaccompanied that may be why your Mobility component wasn't awarded it depends on how often you travel.

Hey @kemcdo6862. A warm welcome to Scope’s forum from me.

You have mentioned not coping with mental health issues for nearly 30 years. Would you feel comfortable sharing a little more with us about this at the moment? For example, have you got the support you need and deserve in place and what does ‘not coping’ look like for you at the moment?

I can hear it is certainly having an impact on your sleep which sounds really difficult, especially as you had another sleepless night. We are here for you and listening to you if you would like to share more with us.

I can hear how unfair you feel the PIP process has been for you and that it doesn’t seem reflective of your lived experience. Do you feel able to phone them up about the letter they haven’t, yet, sent you that they said they would? Hopefully, this will nudge them to send you the letter.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if we can do anything else to support you  :)
