Assuming you are still eligible for the scheme, you can contact Motability directly to apply for the advance payment grant.

I am in the same boat as I dont receive any means tested benefits. My partner works on a love grade NHS position and have to fund the deposit myself. My car need are quite specific, automatic, low to the ground and enough room to carry a ridgid powerchair in the boot. The engine need to be powerful to carry the weight of the chair. I collect my grandchildren from school so need to carry 2 car seats aswell. The cost of these deposits are usually above £2000. I am finding trying to get this money extreemly difficult so it would be great if we knew what level of income is the cut off point for a grand towards a deposit before going to all the trouble of applying for one.1

I am in receipt of Guaranteed Pension Credit and like you I had specific criteria of the vehicle I required. Unfortunately I knew nothing about these grants and have had to save up the deposit over the past two months plus put £1000 on the credit card. My deposit is £3499.
It's been hard getting the £2500 together with struggling each week.
Yes there are cheaper models of the vehicle, £2000 deposit, but they do not have the type of seating that I need.

You can ring motability grants to ask them and they will tell you. As advised in a previous comment, you need to make sure you don't order the vehicle before you make enquiries for the grant because once you've ordered the vehicle you can't apply. If it's possible to apply for a grant they will only take into consideration a vehicle suitable for yourself, they won't take into consideration car seats for your grandchildren.1

Rang today, you cant apply until 4 mths before lease ends, and means tested on income if low, or benifits you claim0
