Hello, I got accepted onto LWCA on 1st March '23 and I'm just wondering when I will get backdated, I have sicknotes in with no break from april last year. I know I have to wait 3 months before I get paid my first payment but when do you get your backdated money? Is it the same time as your first payment?

The extra money is paid from the 4th month after you first reported your health condition. Providing you sent a fit note within 7 days of that and continued to send them the whole time without any gaps until the decision was made on your work capability assessment.

When it's paid from exactly will depend on what date you reported your health condition/sent your first fit note and what date you usually receive your money each month.

Based on the information you gave then your first payment will be either Aug or Sept 2022. Any money owed will be paid separately to your usual monthly money and often takes quite a few weeks to pay it.

By first payment do you mean that's when I will get backdated from?

The LCWRA element should be included in your next statement, you will need to check it to see if it's included.
Money owed will be paid separately and can take quite a few weeks to pay what is owed. They will first need to recalculate your past statements to work out what you've already been paid against what you should have been paid. You will then receive the difference between the 2. Once it's done you'll receive a letter on your journal.
