Doctors report

Hi, feeling very stressed. Just seen Capita report completed by A doctor at surgery. Very brief. Main conditions listed were scoliosis and rotator cuff tear. No mention of arthritis, IBS, diverticulitis (despite the fact I had to decline jury service due to severe occurence of divertifulitis). ON the section of how it affects patient (i.e bathing, dressing, cooking) said none recorded. Well there would be none recorded, has ANYONE on here been to their doctor to tell them about everyday life, can't even get an appointment for a current problem. Also Capita form said application for PIP, when in fact it is a renewal? Scoliosis gets worse not better, yet doctor has been paid for this report which details very little.

I'm sorry you are feeling very stressed at the moment. You would maybe have to speak to a specialist in that areas.0

Did you ask the Doctor to complete the report yourself or was it sent directly from Capita? Doctors aren't generally contacted for PIP from what I've seen over the years.
As you rightly said, they don't know your functional ability so aren't the best people to complete a report for PIP.

Hi @Janoula sorry to hear you're feeling stressed. Can I ask what stage you're at with your PIP claim? We're here to support you whatever the outcome0
-
My gp would not have been able to complete any of this information either....seems strange that capita even asked for it? ...but maybe its a new thing0

I would take it as a positive, simply because, as you state the 'Doctor' simply doesn't know how your conditions effect you from one day to the next.
You can simply knock that report on the head. State that the report is 'incorrect', the Doctor is aware of the conditions and symptoms on an individual, but he / she doesn't know how they impact me personally from one day to another, as they have never spent an hour with me at home etc.
However my relative has spent considerable time with me and can verify the difficulties / impact I face etc.2 -
Thanks for replies. YES Capital instigated the report. My GP has no idea of my day to day life, not seen them except for covid vaccines. Even a visit to A and E resulted in me discharging myself after 9 hours. No follow up from GP then either. She has thrown me under the bus ! Stage at PIP is that eventually after a year I got a telephone assessment, Still waiting for a working link to the actual recording, and now all emails being returned unread ! I had a letter from DWP last week saying they had all information now and would notify me if I was awarded pip. Actually its a renewal and already did a face to face 8 years ago, so what are they playing at? My blood pressure was 140/100 with 96 bpm when checked, as I feel so ill. I expect they MAY have asked consultant and offered to pay him too ! He has the xrays that show how deformed my spine is, but possibly they are not intersted in the truth. This very same doctor diagnosed my arthritis and has been consulted about my nightly cramps which nothing could be done about, so I just suffer them, and I do, every night. She also has not mentioned the damaged nerve in front of foot after spinal op. I am very upset and disallusioned . I lost my job of 8 years at 63, no pension til 66, and I did not claim for job seeking benefits as why would I? Seems I should ahve just lied and grabbed anything going if they are going to treat genuine people like this. Diagnosed at 23 after a road accident, didn't even need to claim anything til 56 I think it was. Saw Capita face to face, so whats changed except it got worse? Sorry to rant, but I am so upset I can't concentrate on much at all just now. I won't be able to afford my car if they stop it and I can't do much without my car (not PIP car, my own car I pay for and maintain).

It's rare for them to contact anyone but it does happen. When they contact a GP all they are sent is a tick box form, which isn't very helpful at all.Although it's a review and not a new claim, reviews are taking so much longer than new claims. This is because they've been concentrating on new claims for quite some time. Once the report was returned to DWP a decision can take up to 12 weeks.1

Thanks for the update0

No need to apologise @Janoula we all need a good rant sometimes If we can help with anything while you wait, please do ask, even if you just fancy a chat- that's what this community is for.
Let us know when you do hear more!1 -

Well there won't be! They have never asked me how I cope, I can't even remember when I last saw a doctor because its all phone calls if you have any worries. Even when I had a strange lump I had to take a photo of it ! I think some of the early advice here is correct, state that the report is incorrect etc.I thought I may phone Capit tomorrow, as I still have not had a workable link to the apparent recording of our assessment call, and not had the hard copy either, and recent emails are returned unread ! Bound to make one feel a bit concerned. And then practice manager at the Doctors to say how disappointed and upset I am that the doctor, one I have seen a few times over the years, had not thorough gone through records and therefore had not noted medications in full, nor all my linked conditions and other conditions. And then if DWP come back (they did say they have all info now to decide WHETHER to award pip !) and refuse, I will take it further and appeal. They only have to consult the consultant & ask to see xrays, to be honest when I saw them first time I wondered how I didn't look much worse and how I managed to move at all ! Thanks.0

An update, thankfully although I couldnot get through to doctor after many times holding on, I got through to Capita. HOwever they said I needed to speak to DWP, but that they would make sure they requested AGAIN the recording of assessment. Anyway whilst holding for DWP noticed a bit more for next payment, so when I got through I said I had been advised to call them as all papers passed, and wondered if there was n update as whilst holding I noticed a slight extra this month. She was very kind and friendly, and went through. Apparently a letter went out 6 March, but our post is very irregular. I have been awarded pip and there was a back payment for a month ons omething I can't remember, but at least it is renewed which I am happy about as I was so fearful of not being able to afford my car, which is essential to me every day. Thanks for advice ad replies everyone. Hope it all works for others too. Its the long long wait that is so stressful. Shan't bother with GP now

Thanks for your update @Janoula the news about being awarded PIP must be a big relief! I hope you can have a more relaxed week now0

Thank you, it has been a huge relief because of all the stories I had heard. I was getting prepared to live very frugally indeed so I could keep my car !

Just a quick question, when I phoned DWP they told me letter was sent (or does that mean typed !) on 6 March. I still have not got this letter. I am concerned that it has been lost in mail, or worse someone else now knows all about my private information. I tried to phone today but they are on strike. Does it normally take over two weeks to receive your letter, I am assuming letter started 6 March, then goes via various departments before being posted !

Mail coming from DWP goes through a mail sorting process, the same as when we send letters to DWP. It's not unusal for letters to take a couple of weeks for you to receive them. If it was sent on the 6th, it means exactly this, it was sent. I'd advise you to leave it another week and if you don't receive it then you'll need to ring them to ask them to send another copy to you.

Thank you ! Yes I guess when you hear they posted it 6th, you think there is only your letter lol ! I will phone though to see what is happening as our mail is not totally trustworthy round here.

Have you been able to phone to see what is happening yet @Janoula? Hopefully, you will receive it fairly soon or at least reassurance0
