Summary
When sixth-former, Rae, becomes chronically ill, she fights to be heard by her mum, her doctors and her friends as she grapples with her new disabled identity.
Dark comedy SLEEPYHEAD is director Milly Garnier's fourth live-action short film and second project with author and screenwriter Charlotte Paradise, who has an MA in Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media (RCSSD). Their first project together was the short film CHRONIC (2022), which has screened and been award-nominated at film festivals. Their aim is to champion the chronically ill community both on and off screen.

RAE (17) is a Jewish, chronically ill die hard bagel fan, full of rage and dark humour. Female identifying.
Rae is a seriously witty teenager who becomes chronically ill - exhausting, house-confining and invisible. She fights to be heard by her mum, her doctors and her friends as she grapples with her new disabled identity.
We are actively seeking an actor who has a similar lived experience to take on this brilliant character in an authentic way. Ideally of Jewish culture or heritage but we welcome all diversity and encourage applications from people of any background.
Previous professional acting experience is not necessary. Must be based UK. We welcome all diversity and encourage applications from people of any background.
