Hello @APenny and thanks for your query, I've just separated your post so that it's in it's own discussion, and our members can more easily share their thoughts with you.
You'll need to apply for Attendance Allowance, there's more information on Scope's website:Attendance Allowance is a benefit for people over State Pension age who have personal care needs. This could be with things like getting dressed, washing yourself or eating.
To be eligible you need regular support through the day, through the night or all day and all night.
You can use Attendance Allowance to pay for anything. This could be personal care, a holiday or anything else you need.
If there's anything else we can help with, please ask0 -
Hi @APenny - & welcome to the community.(If you already have an award of PIP, then this will continue past State Pension Age @Alex_Scope Please see: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/before-claiming/getting-pip-after-youve-reached-state-pension-age/ )There's some info here about those who may get a 10 year award with a 'light touch review,' which says with these there wouldn't usually be a face to face assessment: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-personal-independence-payment-pip-toolkit if you scroll down to this section:
'Ongoing awards with a ‘light touch’ review
This is for claimants who have:
- very stable needs which are unlikely to change over time
- high level needs which will either stay the same or get worse
- a planned award review date due on or at State Pension age
- a special rules for end of life claim due when of State Pension age
These claimants would not usually be expected to have a face-to-face assessment at review.'
