Mention ___ , someone HAS to mention ___ !

Another game I found. I think it's fun.

What things, when mentioned, always seem to cause somebody to say something else in particular?

I'll give a few examples...

- Mention you have OCD, someone HAS to say "oh you must be clean and tidy".

- Mention cars, someone HAS to go on about miles per gallon.

- Mention you study philosophy, someone HAS to ask "what's the meaning of life then?".

All posted in the spirit of fun.

@L_Volunteer yes I think you have pretty much got it. It's more about tropes that people always seem to bring up when you mention a certain subject.

E.g. if I mention I have OCD someone always seems to have to bring up the old trope "you must be very clean then".

Easter and chocolate works, though.

As there is about a lot of syndromes/ illnesses and disabilities.  

Here's one that happened to me today, a regular thing in a Dr's surgery .. ask someone you know/ recognise how they are - stock answers are usually I'm OK, I'm good or can't complain 

I'm guilty of it too ... just beggars the question if we're that 'good' ... why are we there

@WelshBlue ha ha the doctor always asks me how I am and I always say "OK" they are always too polite to reply "well why are you bothering me then?!"

@Biblioklept your relationships one reminds me of another one: Mention you are not "into" the opposite sex and someone will assume you are gay. No I'm not into anything!

One I have noticed recently which I am guilty of doing myself but am trying not to now.

Mention social media and someone has to proudly pipe up "I don't use social media" expecting a cookie or some sort of medal.

@WelshBlue My brother went to New York not long after William and Kate announced their wedding. He was asked by some workers at the empire state building if he was excited to go He was so confused, haha.

Mention you're dieting responds with a lot of "advice".

I think people say it because they think they're funny ... it's like a 'Dad' joke ... funny to the sayer but no-one else.  I sometimes respond with I'm also deaf in one eye ...
