Esa confused

Hi I applied twice for esa contribution based. I've had esa before for the maximum 365 days. Then I just gave up. I've survived on just selling my clothes etc for money for over a year.
I'm not entitled to uc or esa income based. I've got progressively worse with depression and rhumertide arthritis.
I applied heard nothing, then applied again. I spoke to someone at benefits and they said that my esa is still live for my N. I contributions.
I've had a commitment phone call 28th March, the thing is my letter saying no to esa is dated 23rd March, but the commitment form is dated 28th March.
Do you think I should get another letter.

New claims for Income Related ESA are no longer possible because UC has replaced it.

I see from a previous thread in 2021 that you were placed into the WRAG so payments stopped after one year.

If you haven’t worked in the last 2 tax years then you will not be entitled to any payments for a new claim.

As you’ve already got a claim for credits only you can report a change of circumstances for a worsening of condition for that claim. You will need To go through another work capability assessment. If you’re then placed into the Support Group your payments will start again.

    Hi

Thank you for the reply, I'm sure they saud my claim was kept live to give N. I credits?

    Hi

Sorry just seen ur reply. I never read it properly.
I've had a phone call for claimant commitment. So do you think I should get a letter saying yes or no?

    Thank you

The claimant commitments letter is a standard letter asking you to attend your first appointment. This letter is sent out even if you’re not entitled to any payments. If you haven’t worked at all in the last 2 tax years starting a new claim isn’t going to help you.

It’s unlikely you’ll receive another letter.

Yes your current claim is NI credits only but you can report a change of circumstances for that claim and go through another work capability assessment.
