Hi, I am dad of young person with autism. Want to apply for UC on his behalf, any tips? He has just turned 18, in full time education in special school and gets PIP. Thank you for advise.

As he's is full time education then unfortunately, he will not be able to claim UC in his own right. The rules changed in Dec 2021 which means that disabled full time students can only claim UC if they were found to have limited capability for work before their college/school course began. Full details here. https://askcpag.org.uk/content/207854/universal-credit-and-disabled-students-an-updateAs he's only 18 aren't you claiming any benefits for him, such as tax credits or child element of Universal Credit and child benefit?

Hi there @nnsyed and welcome, I hope Poppy has been able to answer your question, even if it might not be the answer you're looking for.
To help everyone find your post, I've just popped it over into our universal credit category. If there's anything else we can do to help, let us know
