Hello
Looking for advice please.
I recently got pip awarded for 4 years. I registered on motability webiste. I am unable to go any further. This is the following message I get

Your allowance is not available
The Dwp have confirmed you are getting the higher rate mobility part of an eligible allowance but its currently not available for lease with motability.

Can someone explain why I'm getting this please? This is the first time I applied for motability car.

I have no idea why you received that message. To be eligible for the motability scheme you need Enhanced mobility award with at least 1 year remaining.

You would need to visit a dealer of your choice and take your PIP award with you, along with your driving license if you're the main driver and place an order with the dealer. You don't actually place an order on the motability website.

Once you have delivery of the vehicle your mobility payments would then be paid to motability and not to you. https://www.motability.co.uk/how-it-works/

I understand that. But i think I need to register online first so the process would be quicker when I visit the dealer that's what is mentioned on the motability website. Thanks for replying. I am really confused.

I think it's probably worth contacting Motability to ask them what may have happened.  It's not a message I've seen before either.

Only thing I can think of is that either your award is still being processed at the DWP if very recent.  Or maybe the allowance changes during April are causing a computer error on the MB website.

You do not need to register online first and it doesn't make the process any quicker even if you did. You just need to visit a dealer of your choice, test drive some vehicles and then place your order.

Depending on the model and spec you choose, you could be waiting several months for a collection date. Some dealers have extremely long waiting times. Do also be aware than some vehicles have an advance payment which needs to be paid before you can collect the car. If you need help with the advance payment you can apply for a grant through motability but you must do this before you place an order.

The dealer also said that i could register online with Motability or they can do everything when I see them. So I thought if i put all the information in now it would be quicker for them when I see them later this week. I have messaged Motability. I'll wait and see what they reply. Thank you for replying

Thank you. I have emailed them. I'll wait and see what they say.

Seems the easiest option would be to visit the dealership.

Agree with that. When i last placed an order for a car in Jan 2021 i was only at the dealer doing the paper work for about 15 minutes. The longest part was test driving the car.

Thank you for replying. I'm glad it wasn't just me! It really confused me when I read that. Hopefully i will get a reply from them before the appointment with the dealer if not hopefully they can sort it out for me then. I have also heard there is such long wait. Not long left for you...hopefully you will get your car soon.

    Thank you everyone for replying.

There is a awfully long wait depending on the type of car your looking for,, I was adviced by a family member to go with Kia this 1 has only taken 2 months.. the first 2 cars we looked at there was a waiting list of around 6 to 9 months 😳
