For the SDP you must be claiming Income Related ESA and live alone or be classed as living alone. You must also be claiming daily living PIP and no one must claim either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you.A previous thread suggests you're claiming standard mobility only and this will not qualify you for SDP. Thread here. https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/76662/why-have-i-received-a-letter-from-dwp-asking-if-ive-been-in-hospital-and-for-my-bank-details#latest

If your son lives with you then unless he either claims a disability benefit himself such as PIP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care or he’s registered blind then you won’t be entitled to SDP.1

You can't claim carers allowance for looking after yourself. Do you mean your son has claimed it for looking after you for at least 35 hours per week? If so then the carers allowance will be deducted in full from his UC entitlement. Therefore there's no financial gain to claiming this at the same time.He can "report a change of circumstances" on his journal and then click "caring for someone" report caring for you for at least 35 hours per week and then his UC will include the carers element. His UC will then increase by £185.86/week. As a carer he will not have any work commiments.Claiming either carers allowance or carers element for himself will not affect your housing benefit claim.0
