I've been awarded LCWRA, does this mean I'll likely get awarded PIP?

Hi all wondering if I could please have some advice.


I applied for PIP and had my telephone assessment yesterday (12/04/23) which lasted about 30 minutes.


Today I received an email stating a was entitled to Limited Capability for Work and Work Related Activities, however I don't remember ever applying for this. I submitted my first sick note on the 22nd Jan, so will it be three months since that date I receive a payment so the 22nd April and will payments be backdated from Jan? The email was really vague.


Also, will this mean I am likely to receive PIP and how quickly do you normally receive an outcome after the telephone assessment?

How bizarre! Do you recall filling in a UC50 'capability for work' questionnaire? 

Unfortunately, being awarded LCWRA has no bearing on PIP, as they assess different things. LCWRA focuses on your capability to work, and PIP assesses your functional ability to complete the daily living and mobility components. 

Please do keep us posted on how things go with your PIP claim, and if you have any other questions please give us a shout.

For the LCWRA element, there’s a full 3 month assessment period waiting time and the extra money is paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition/sent your first fit note. It’s not paid at all during the waiting period.

You said you sent your first fit note on 22nd Jan. what date do you usually receive your money each month?

Normally the 20th of every month

That means your assessment periods (AP) are 14th to 13th of every month and you sent your first fit note in the middle of Jan/feb which doesn't count because it's not a full month.

Therefore your waiting period will be Feb to May.. LCWRA starts from AP 14th May to 13th June and first payment for LCWRA element will be 20th June. No LCWRA element is owed.
