Hello, I'm currently waiting on the verdict of my wca, its been around 6 weeks since my assessment but i recieved a message in my journal this morning, asking if it would be ok for an agent to call me today to confirm information they hold about my health condition's, i think i understand the premise of what they are asking but im just wondering if this is normal practice? I only ask because i havent seen anyone else post about it before, if anyone has had this call before is it as straight forward as just reiterating the information i have already provided?
 Thanks in advance.

They do sometimes ring before making a decision. Have you now had the phone call?

Yes i had the phone call and it was just to make sure that my health condition hadnt changed since my assessment, i also got my decision letter about an hour after, i managed to speak to the decision maker after because i had wrote something in my journal that i didnt say on the phone and he called me back unfortunately it was decided i dont have limited capability for work as i dont have upperbody problems and even though i cant walk with my walking stick for more than 15- 20 yards without being in considerable pain i could purchase a manual wheelchair and complete some kind of work, i did explain to the decision maker that this is true i could use one but getting the wheelchair from my house up the steps to public path would be impossible but obviously it didnt make a difference, i dont actually have to look for work anyway because my son has learning difficulties and he only goes to school for 1.5 hours a day and im his only parent, if im honest the only thing that will change is that ill have to go to review meetings every 4 weeks to see if my circumstances have changed I'm assuming.

I had a feeling it maybe have been to do with that because i've heard this happen before where they ring claimants if the decision isn't going to be in their favour and to find you fit for work.

For the work capability assessment it's the work you can do rather than the work you can't do, so they take into consideration any type of work.

If you disagree with the decision you can request the Mandatory Reconsideration. (MR) You can do this on your journal. The most likely outcome will be the decision remains the same, if this happens you can proceed to Tribunal.
