Carers Element Backdate

Hello,

I have been reading Scope forums for a while now, it’s been really helpful to me so thank you all for your insightful posts.

My situation is, I’m currently awaiting for Carers Element to be backdated on Universal Credit. I understand there’s no set timescale, however I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing how long it took for others to receive their backdate?

    It's not standard procedure to backdate carers element, unless you told them your caring duties previously. It will be down to a decision maker to make the final decision. Once it's made you'll receive a letter on your journal.
    If you're claiming the LCWRA element for yourself then you can't claim carers element at the same time.

    Thanks. The backdate is in place as I previously reported caring. I’ve been waiting on the decision maker for approximately a month now, so hopefully it won’t be too much longer.

    That does seem like quite a long time. Put a message on your journal under the payment section and ask them for an update.
