We will have to agree to disagree on this one.  You won't convince me that people aren't dipping out of money they are entitled to.

@trb10 , you won't be losing out at all.
I received my PIP payment in the early hours, the amount I received was as expected, higher than normal because of the days from the 10th are at the new rate. I won't receive the full 4 weekly amount until May's payment. That is how it works, nobody will be dipping out.

I'm not talking about PIP.  That is correct you will have received a proportion at the old rate and some at the new rate as I did.  My question is why UC can't do the same thing.

I already explained that UC is completely different and because it’s a monthly benefit the system can’t acknowledge part payments for different weeks.

You’re perfectly entitled to disagree with me but I’m only advising you of the rules. I don’t make them!

In this day of modern computers I don't agree with that statement at all!

You said the system can't manage different rates at different rates, I'm saying if they can do it for other benefits there is absolutely no reason why they can't do the same for UC.

An MP is going to change the system so what's the point?

The increase came in on April 6th I believe but UC is April 10th?

    My UC Journal states:

"Your next statement will be ready on 10 May 2023. Check again then.

On 14 May 2023 you will be paid any money you are entitled to.

The amount you get is based on your circumstances from 8 April to 7 May 2023."

I take it this means I'll get the increase in mid-June, seems quite a long time after the rates went up.

That is correct, on 14 June your UC payment will reflect the increase.

I'm in the same boat, I won't get paid any more until 2nd June.

As i've constantly advised UC is completely different to legacy benefits.

As I've constantly said, I see no excuse for it to be organised any differently.

Exactly. I'm a benefit claimant just like yourself. I do not make the rules, i only advise people of them. If you want to get your point across then the only way to do this is to contact your local MP.

So do you genuinely believe if for argument's sake they announced a 10% DECREASE in benefits next year the system wouldn't magically be capable of making a pro rata calculation during their assessment period so you'd get part at the old rate and part at the new rate?  Coz I think they'd get that sorted out quick enough and people wouldn't still be receiving the old rate 2 months afterwards!

No it would not. As i've advised quite a few times. The system can't calculate changes for part of an assessment period. Anyway, i'm done here and won't be responding any further to your comments.
