Hi, I am looking for advice and on a google search this group came up, so I have always worked even when my children were baby’s, now 8,10&11 but I for the past two years have struggled with panic attacks that are very severe and eventually in December 2022 had to leave my job, I worked as a carer and having time off wasn’t an option and was feeling very pressured by employers that’s why I quit rather than go on the sick I just couldn’t cope at the time, I them got signed off by gp and was on universal credit I was given a health assessment which I passed and was told not to send any more fit notes as I’ve been found fit for work, I have asked for a reconsideration which I’ve googled and it’s unlikely they ever change there minds, im being asked to look for full time work 35 hours I have found my work coach very unhelpful when I’v explained Im petrified of returning to work I don’t know how il cope as I experience random panic attacks, I don’t know where to turn or what to do, each work meeting she dismisses what im saying and just reads my commitments and says if you don’t accept your be sanctioned I don’t want to not work our family have gone from living comfortably to barely surviving the month, I need more time to get better but im being forced back to work, can anyone give me any advice, the system feels heartless and cruel. I’ve searched the internet for help but their seems nothing you can do or no where you can go for support.

The most likely outcome of a Mandatory Reconsideration is the decision will stay the same. You can then proceed to Tribunal where there’s more chance of a decision in your favour, providing you either appear in person or have a telephone/video hearing. It can be a long process.
In the meantime you can speak to your work coach to ask if they can either reduce or turn off work commitments because of your health condition but it’s at their own discretion.0 -
Thank you, I plan on taking it as far as I can! whilst you are waiting on a decision are you expected to look for work?0

Yes, as above it’s down to your work coaches discretion to turn off commitments unfortunately. You will find that a tribunal is generally more understanding, fingers crossed.1

Hello @Jo123
I'm so sorry to hear that you don't feel your work coach is very supportive. I do hope the Mandatory Reconsideration goes in your favour. In the meantime, have you thought about reaching out to Scope's Employment Services? They are very friendly and supportive1 -
I’m going to take a look at that now thank you in advance I didn’t know about it.0
