    Hi
Im literally battling with the Severe Disability Premium Team.
I applied for SDP after being told that if im not a Carer or cared for then im eligible. I received a call it was all polite and friendly. they sent me a backdated for the years 2020-2023.

I was then told that since I received the ESA income related since 2008 onwards and as it was a clerical claim, that will take more time and I should wait. I chased this up several times recently only to be told that the ( workers for ESA SDP have been told to prioritise payments going out instead of looking into back dated payments. they cannot apparently now find my circumstances for the ESA claim in 2008 and so therefore want to conclude by saying they cannot look into it.
Every time I have rang them recently im told they cannot get hold of the clerical files so cannot see if I was entitled to it. Can they look at my ESA entitlement and figure it out from that? What can I do? im very poorly and struggling .

Am I right to say that if I was a carer for someone I can still request a backdated claim and if I was not as well. its all new to me and very difficult. apparently some benefit person will ring me soon to say they cannot look at a backdated claim from 2008 , what can I say to her to make them look at it form 2008 ?

To be entitled to SDP you must be claiming a qualifying benefit such as PIP daily living, DLA mid/high rate care or ADP daily living. You must also live alone or be treated as living alone. If you're living with other adults they must also claim a qualifying disability benefit, or be registered blind.
No one must be claiming either carers allowance or carers element of Universal Credit for looking after you.
If you're claiming carers allowance for looking after someone else, this doesn't affect your entitlement to SDP.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
