Removal of reasonable adjustments

My son lives with BDD (MH condition in the same family as OCD) For the past 4 years he has had a RA in place at his place of work John Lewis which allows him to start his 6 hr shift within a broad time window rather that 10am on the dot. It has worked very well for all this time and is the only reason that he has been able to be in the workforce at all.
JL have announced today that this RA is now unsustainable and will be removed effectively making it impossible for him to remain in his job. The discussion with his line manager today has caused his MH to deteriorate as his lifeline is being removed. Having a job is a critical part of rehabilitation and recovery from lots of MH conditions. It seems as though the RA is being removed in the whim of a new line manager. What should we do? any advice appreciated.

No union in place. I have got some legal advice who has indicated that the EA act has been breached and that JL would need to demonstrate a solid reason why the RA is not sustainable anymore - ie) whats materially changed. Without that evidence then they are failing under the EA.
