Hi, so I received the standard text message regarding PIP saying ‘we have not yet made a decision’ on Thursday 27th April (8.08am). Today (Weds May 03rd) I phoned to ask for an update. The man on the phone was really friendly and said the case manager looked at my report/claim yesterday (Tuesday May 02nd) but didn’t give me any information other than it shouldn’t be long before I receive a decision. He said If I’ve been awarded I will receive a text and to then phone and they’ll be able to tell me what the award is unless I’m happy to wait for a letter etc. He also said to keep an eye on my bank for a payment. I suppose my question is to anyone that has phoned and had a similar response? My anxiety is sky high not knowing either way. Part of me thinks him talking about checking my bank and to look out for an award text is positive but part of me is also worried that I haven’t been awarded because if the case manager looked at it yesterday then surely he would be able to see if I had been awarded? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

It will be impossible to predict anything at this stage.When he told you to keep checking your bank and to look out for an award text is something they sometimes advise people to do but there’s no way they would know what the decision is likely to be. They were just being friendly. If it’s your first time claim and you’re successfully award then yes money owed is usually received in your bank before the decision letter.Not everyone receives a text if successfully awarded.0

Thank you for your quick reply Poppy. I did just wonder as the case manager had looked at it yesterday if it would show on their system today. I will stay in the land of limbo until I know for sure haha and will also update with the outcome on here whether good or bad, so others can hopefully read my experience as well as others, as I know it’s an anxious wait.1

Hi, just a quick update for anyone that might search in future looking for advice and read this. Following the text message ‘we have not yet made a decision (27th April) I received a letter saying they had everything they need to make a decision (Thursday 04th May). Then today (Tuesday 09th May) I had a missed call from the PIP enquiry line followed by a text messages saying they would try to ring again. When they did phone back the man wanted to ask a couple of questions about medication/dates etc and said it looks like I have been awarded and he will be working out exactly what today. He asked if I would be able to manage a lump sum and subsequent payments. For anyone reading I would advise to try not to worry about other people’s personal experiences, as from what I have read after the text message a lot of people then received an award text within two days and this certainly wasn’t the case for me. Best of luck to everyone.2

@mrsstone37 Congrats on your award
I don't understand the automated texts, like you said because everyone is different and there are still delays.

Thank you @hannah_Scope 😊 I received my award text at 8.03 this morning. Incredibly relieved 😅 and my experience definitely shows it is different for every individual with regards to time scales so I really hope this alleviates anxiety for anyone reading and wondering about their own circumstances.0

@mrsstone37 when did you have your assessment? I had mine last Thursday but also on the same day the dwp received my form too.
congratulations and hope you treat yourself0 -
Hi @Concon07 thank you 😊 I had my telephone assessment 4 weeks ago today on the 12th of April and the next day on the 13th I received a text saying they had received my report. I hope that helps and please feel free to ask if you have any more questions. My process took 16 weeks from first applying to receiving the award text today.0
