i have just found this forum ..and it is so great to finally meet others with acholasia of the cardia
I feel suddenly not so alone since reading other peoples words .
I have had it since i was 13 ..and am now 64
I have not had any medical procedures and have found other ways to manage it
Yoga really helps ..deep breathing and stretching ..and in certain positions i can actually get my food to go down when it is stuck .
and its still a full time job trying to manage this condition ..having to take my blender everywhere ..and all my supplements ..and having to take my own food everywhere i go and my special wedge pillow so i can sleep upright
and i know very well what it is like to not be listened to or taken seriously .
It took my doctor years to even put me forward for any tests .Finally my friends came to the Doctors with me and insisted that he actually do something
I had the condition for 7 years before anything was diagnosed .That was years ago when the NHS was much better ....now things are so much worse
.I have waited 6 months even for a phone consultation ..and he tells me that there is no-one who can help me at the local hospital .That i will have to find a specialist surgeon myself .So after waiting all that time ..i am right at the back of the queue again .
My local Doctor told me to take paracetamol !
Given i just told him that i could not swallow ..how on earth does that work !
It is beyond me why they cannot just google it like everyone else does ..if they do not know about it .
Does anyone know of any other groups on-line ?
I would love to hear about others who may have had successful long term benefits from any surgery or procedures .

Hello and welcome @mermaid58 and thank you for sharing your experiences, I know that a lot of our members will relate to the feelings you describe. It's incredibly frustrating when we don't feel heard, or feel stuck in the system.
You might like to visit our Rare Conditions category to chat with other members with similar experiences. In the meantime, a good place to get to know everyone is the coffee lounge.
Please ask if we can help with anything further0
