Hello, I am new here.

I have just been awarded a critical illness settlement for Total Permanent Disability (TPD), from my insurance company, and I have asked my work for ill health retirement due to my condition. I have been absent for over ten months now and hope to get tier1 from my LGPS pension, due to the permanency nature of my condition.  I have a compelling independent medical report from the insurance company that I will use to support my claim with LGPS.

Does anyone know how long this process will take, as I have since learnt that there is restructure at work  and my post is now at risk. I am assuming I need this medical process concluding before the restructure plans come into effect and I am dismissed due to redundancy.

I welcome your experiences and wisdom.

thanks

jas

Hi @jasb How are you keeping? I was sorry to hear about your condition, I hope you are getting enough support around care and any emotional impact.

Has there been any progress with the ill health retirement? Scope have an advice page centred around this topic, if that could help in any way.

Wishing you the very best. Take care.
