DLA renewal

I received my daughters renewal pack in January 2023 claim expires on the 28/05/2023. They received my renewal pack on the 18/01/2023 as I paid for a signed next day service. I have called several times and today to be told it’s still not with a case manager and no decision has been made. It’s effecting all of my other benefit entitlements and what’s the law or guidelines on this. Do DLA have to act or get the claim decision made in a certain time frame. Surely there must be some way I can get this priorities ?. How long is it going to take , they have had the form and evidence provided for months?. This is so distressing any help or advice would be most appreciated. I would like to know if I can do anything about this towards DLA as if it goes past the award end date I believe no payments will also be backdated?

There are delays with DLA decisions due to backlogs and decisions are currently taking up to about 16 weeks sometimes longer. The form would not have been received with DWP the day after you posted it even with signed for delivery. All post going to DWP has to go through a Mail sorting process first. It will have been signed for by someone from Royal Mail not someone from DWP. It can take a couple of weeks to be added to the computer. If the award does end before a decision is made if awarded successfully then it will be backdated to the day after payment stopped.1

They did receive this renewal in a timely manner , I understand the back log but surely I would be entitle to complain it’s going to have a massive impact on all the other support my daughter currently receives.0

Hi @Tiarna263 and thanks for your question, if you'd like to find out more, the DWP have information on their complaints procedure, which I hope is useful for you.
All the best with your DLA renewal, and please let us know how you and your daughter get on as and when0
