Hi all . Is there anyone from the UK ?
I tried too have my tooth extracted on Friday , twice and I couldn’t do it .
I was traumatised. Please be aware my dentist is fantastic and I feel happy I’ve finally found someone who understands my disability and needs .
I was completely numb but still felt things and I was terrified I couldn’t carry on .
Now I did go too another dentist previously and they we’re supposed too refer me too the dental hospital.
They did my referral and hardly wrote enough too support it and they kept rejecting it 😭.
My new dentist has witnessed my reaction and said not even sedation will be suitable and we agreed I need to be asleep.
im aware I will be waiting a long time , I do have an infection which is being treated but I know it will keep coming back until it’s out but I will not go through what I did on Friday again.
I keep crying because am scared so much they will reject me again .
I don’t have much support too help me get this referral excepted .
Im afraid of getting sepsis and I’m so afraid that I will be told too just keep trying.
I am autistic, I am hypersensitive and I have trauma and no one seems too care at all
Is there anyone from the UK ( Manchester) who has been through or going through the same ?
also has anyone been put asleep too have teeth out .
thanks for reading

Excuse me I don’t appreciate your response . I won’t be having it done awake due too trauma.
why should I ? -
Try again though why would I try again ? No I am asking if it’s something they will be able too do for me

I have the same problem regarding dentists (as well as hospitals etc) for similar reasons - hypersensitivity, very low pain tolerance, severe anxiety and previous traumatic events. I've needed dental treatment for several years now but can't find anywhere that could put enough 'reasonable adjustments' in place for me.
I'm interested to know why sedation wouldn't work though? I thought gas sedation would put you to sleep? That's the only way I'll be able to get through dental treatment, as well as the other op's that I'm in need of. Though I just can't see any way I could even get to the hospital now, it's a huge cause of daily stress for me so I can understand why it's affecting you so much.

Thanks for understanding. I don’t even know what sedation is I was told I’d be awake and still feel it ?It’s so hard isn’t it ?I just wish I was listened too from the start regarding a proper referral.
just feel so lost -

just feel so lostMeaning all the effort I put in trying to get to the only dental clinic that offered gas sedation in my area (3 failed appointments!) was a complete waste of both my time and theirs.
It seems like only the hospital can put you to sleep for operations.
It's also sad to see the lack of understanding on that Bupa page. The suggested alternative for a fear of needles is to use a numbing gel - and then a needle! Totally misunderstanding that it isn't purely about the feeling of it. Just the sight of a needle triggers uncontrollable shaking and tics for me...and I just get told to 'calm down' or 'sit still'...as if it's a choice I'm making!

Sorry too hear that so could you not do it with sedation either ?
Bupa are the ones who did me referral incorrectly which is why I’m having too go through the process again and I’m thinking of taking it further but I don’t know where I’d start -

Mine was with an NHS dentist and then an NHS dental clinic, I don't have any experience with Bupa, but it looks like they're all just as bad regarding phobia reactions and hypersensitivity etc.
