Hi I applied for pip as I have copd asthma and suffer with depression I've been refused score 0 points when I done for I have help my son and his girlfriend can't go mix with ppl but on the refuse letter it says I can do everything myself with out help what to do I've been off work for over 6 months with my depression always worked and can't get anything help

I'm so sorry to hear that you were refused PIP and it was not the outcome you wanted. You can challenge the decision and go through Mandatory Reconsideration. If you wanted to speak to someone, Scope's Helpline are always there to talk too.

I always advise people to put the request in writing rather than ring to request it.

You should state where and why you think you should have scored those points. Include a couple of real world incidents of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each descriptor that applies to you.

I would challenge that you are not good at this stuff @traceyd73 - it is a reflection on the system, rather than you as a person. How are you feeling about everything at the moment - do you feel you know what you might like to include for the additional supporting evidence at the moment?

Hi I've been referred to a counciling service I had my first phone call and chat with them on Thursday my mental health not good at mo so do you think it's good idea to send the appointment letter and my doctors summary to them don't know what else to do

The letting telling you your appointment date is unlikely to be helpful. You can send a copy of your summary records from GP. However, unless it gives any information about how your conditions affect you then it may not be helpful. 

Giving a couple a real world examples of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each descriptor that applies will help. Make sure you include detailed information such as where you were, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were. 

Some also find it helpful to ask someone that knows you well for a supporting letter.

Yes my son has done 1 for me as he the 1 that takes care of me and makes sure I'm safe tell what he as to do etc the way things affect me

I've been refused on mandatory so know I'm appealing to tribunal it's stress full I had to do this 6years ago for esa and won hopefully it goes well can't take much more

I've been diagnosed with cholesterol and blocked archerys over last few weeks will this be included in appeal if I send details or do I have to do a new pip form

No, the Tribunal will ask questions based on how you was at the time of your assessment. Anything other than this is a change of circumstances but be aware that you should only notify if your ability to complete Daily Living & Mobility activities have significantly changed. 

Reporting a change whilst going through the appeals process can be quite complicated for a claimant so I would think very carefully before you report.

No, the Tribunal will ask questions based on how you was at the time of your assessment.

Whilst this is true for a worsening of condition. For a diagnosis, i would think that symptoms had already been experienced before a diagnosis was made. If so and Tracey told them about those symptoms on the form or during the assessment then they can send the offical diagnosis to HMCTS. However, PIP isn't about a diagnosis.

Totall agree about reporting changes or even starting a new claim while waiting for a Tribunal. Not always the best idea because reapply using the same evidence will likely see another refusal. If this happens the process starts all over again. 

If the Tribunal award for the first claim because another claim was started the award by the Tribunal will be for a closed period of time and payments will not be ongoing.

I've had my tribunal date threw today I'm nervous what will happen it's by phone so how do I know decision

@traceyd73 They will let you know by letter after you have had your tribunal. How are you feeling with having a date?

Sometimes they may tell you the decision on the day of the hearing. If they can't do this then they will write to you with the decision within a few days. It doesn't mean you haven't been successful, it just means they couldn't give you a decision on the day. If you can track your appeal online sometimes if you log in there after the hearing you maybe able to see what the decision is.

Do you have someone that can be with you during the hearing? You can put the phone onto loud speaker.

Had my tribunal appeal today lasted all of 3 mins and got high rate on both xx
