Yes, it's perfectly normal to feel this way because the majority of people do. I've had quite a few reviews for myself and daughter over the past 10 years and it never gets any easier waiting for the decision.Do you have something you can do to try to distract yourself while you wait? I do understand that's very difficult.1

Thank you Poppy for your quick reply
im housebound so not much to do to keep my mind occupied
ill be ok, I enjoy coming on this forum each day which gives me hope and nice to talk to new people0 -
I’ve been waiting for a while too, I try not to think about it but it’s hard. I got a call from DWP last week but my phone died and they didn’t call back so that’s been playing on my mind. Called back and they don’t know anything about it. They said my report is with the DM and it’s in its last stages, don’t actually know what that means.0

Hi I put my application in January. I had a telephone assessment while I was in hospital for my mental health in April and im still waiting to hear. Ive had several texts and letters saying they've got all the info they need and ive phoned them and they've basically said its with the decision maker. So they said I should receive a text with the outcome and then within 24 hours of the text I can call them and they can read the outcome over the phone. I have been googling and reading every single day, I hate not knowing and its frying my brain so I completely understand what you are going through. I have called them almost every 3 days because I just cant cope. The wait time on the phone is about 40minutes and they are probably sick of me but I feel like its all I can do . Good luck hope you hear from then soon x0

They don't always send a text with the decision. Timescales for decisions is anything up to about 12 weeks after the assessment report was returned.

Yep I’m currently resisting the temptation to phone for an update. I put in for my mandatory reconsideration told I’d hear by 10th July …. Deep down I’m fully prepared for a tribunal as I know not many MRs are successful. The waiting is awful … reading others feel the same and hearing other people’s success stories is keeping me going.0

The dwp - the (anxiety) gift that keeps on giving!!!
for me there’s 2 good reasons why I’m personally not ringing for an update:
- you’re lucky if your on hold for less than an hour
- you may accidentally trigger off something else
but I’m going mad ‘sitting on my hands’ - I’m mentally pre planning worst case scenario’s in advance1 -

just waiting now to see if they go with report
bit disappointed as my mum was sure id get enhanced daily living with having to do so much for me
1 point off is disappointing1 -

@lmarie3004 - When I requested my report, the guy on the phone told me there is no point as it will be sent after my decision. Have you received the “not decided” text yet? X0

That's not correct because they don't automatically send out the report to you. Some will send it and others won't. However, it's not always a good idea to request the report before a decision is made.

The reason being is because it does cause a lot more needless anxiety and stress, even if the report does show in your favour, it still causes anxiety. Another thing to remember is, it's not the decision letter, it's a recommendation only.
