I am a carer for my husband who has been awarded full pip after a long process with a tribunal. We had a call over a week ago from pip asking for bank details and said the back payment would be paid within 7 days and asked about hospital and prison. We still haven’t received the payment but we cannot get hold of pip. After spending hours calling and waiting on hold to be disconnected it’s very frustrating and stressful. I was hoping someone could give me an idea of how long it takes to receive payment after that call. Also if there are any carers who could give me some advice on how to get some back pay from universal? I have cared for my husband for years but he has been awarded pip from January 2022, is there anyway I can get my carers allowance backed further than one month?
many thanks for any help and advice.

Timescales for money going into your bank are 3-5 working days after payment was sent. The best time to ring them is as soon as they open at 9am, which will be Monday now.If you claim carers allowance it will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. The only difference is that you'll receive class 1 NI credits for this, whereas UC is class 3. There's also a maximum earnings limit of £139/week.You can claim carers element of UC without having to claim carers allowance. You will need to report a change of circumstances and then click caring for someone. If you reported being his carer at the start of the PIP claim then it should be backdated to that assessment period. If you didn't then it will be down to a decision maker to make the decision of when to pay it from.1
