Hi Jaxs - How soon after the text did you call? And the advisor told you that you weren’t awarded?

    Hello @jaxs666

    Welcome to the community! :)

I'm so sorry you didn't get the award. You can apply to Mandatory Reconsideration, which will make them look at your claim again.

I know it can be very stressful, we have many members in the community who have expressed the same. Can I ask, do you have support around you?

Hi all i hope everyone now doing well I received the decision letter and the gave me 6 points for daily living and 4 for mobility they said I can plan and make a journey unaided ,while I can plan a journey I can’t do it unaided and as I’ve explained to them I don’t leave my house unless it’s totally necessary due to anxiety and health does anyone have any advice for the reconsideration please, also even though my daughter washes my hair hair and helps me with incontince needs they awarded zero for that .thanks for your help and hope you all have a good day

Hi @jaxs666 I'm sorry to hear that initial decision didn't go your way, it can be very disheartening.

Try not to lose hope though. If you feel that your conditions do meet the points threshold for getting a PIP award (you need to score 8 points minimum in either the mobility or daily living components to receive the standard rate) and have sufficient emotional and practical support available, then please do consider a mandatory reconsideration (MR). You have a month from the date of the decision to ask for an MR. But this can be extended to 13-months if there are reasons to delay this.

Perhaps also look into getting independent welfare advice local to where you live via Advice Local and in the meantime, concentrate on the activities where you believe you should have scored more points to either i) highlight errors with the way the DWP applied the points-based disability test or ii) provide further supporting evidence to satisfy these from either personal anecdotes or accounts from support workers, friends or family.

We wish you all the best. Please let us know how you get on and good luck.
