What tattoo did your daughter have? Maybe it hurt more if it was in a different place?
Chocolate bar and drink ... hmm does the drink have any ethanol in it by any chance
In all seriousness good luck, I hope it goes well for you. Are you having it all done in one long session, or are you going more than once to have it done?
The one thing I am NOT nervous about is the pain as I fortunately have a really good pain threshold ... I am nervous about the social experience rather than the pain, e.g. if you are expected to talk smalltalk to the tattoo artist and stuff like that.Thank you! She had one of her hamster (coloured) who passed away not that long ago. It only took about 1 hour for hers. I haven't seen it yet because it's still completely covered, she can remove it soon to wash it and clean it.As you know she has ASD and social anxiety. They were amazing with her (i told them she has ASD) they don't usually allow anyone to go in with people because the shop is quite small but they allowed me to go in with her, which was very kind of them. He didn't really make any small talk with her becaused he said the tattoo was quite difficult with it being so small and a lot of detail.Mine will be all done tomorrow. The though of returning didn't appeal to me haha. Once it's done and healed i shall post a picture for you to see. Lol @ethanolDon't worry about the tag!paries1 said:Good luck !I got my first tattoo when I was 18, cost me a tenner lol was years ago though .
Thanks. Blimey, they've gone up in price a little more now£180 for my daughters and it's quite small.
@Alex_scope thank you.1 -
Great stuff Poppy, looking forward to seeing it!!1

paries1 said:Damn, £180 is a lot .Glad I got my three done years ago probably cost £50 for all three and they were colour , hated the colours so had them filled in black which probably cost me £30 for all 3 lol
good luck for the tattoo day !
I won't tell you what mine is costingthat was cheap back then but most things were lol. Another member pointed out earlier in the thread that you pay for what you get, which is so true.

Good luck tomorrow Poppy' ... don't forget the pics when it's healed
The talk of pain reminds of when I had a Chelsea crest put on my arm in Rhyl and told the tattooist it hurt a bit
... his words were, you think that's pain, go and show the Scousers walking around the tattoo ... then you'll know what pain is2 -
It's very true about the cost, way more than I thought
I realised to get my arms done like full sleeves will cost several thousand
When out and about and I see people with a Rolex on their wrist and think "nice one, you have done well"
Will now think the same about people with full sleeve tattoos!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not saying it has put me off, but I will have to get it done in stages instead off all at once.1 -
@66Mustang ... most people I know have had their sleeves done over time, apart from letting parts heal, infection wise too. It stops from having costly mistakes with something you've got to live with, or you may find a nicer design you'd prefer. My son adds to his every 2 months or so
As for cost our local artist charges £55 an hour or a flat rate for small works
Aftercare creams also to be considered. Bepanthen cream started to ruin one of my sons new tats and always uses Penny Black tattoo balm now.
Ask your artist which they recommend0 -
Thanks @WelshBlue for the advice, makes perfect sense to me, will have to consider it as a work in progress not something to get done overnight,0

Good luck with your tattoo Poppy.1

You'll be fine poppy. It's the Smalltalk that hurts the most lol. 👍1
-
Thankfully, i don't have an issue with smalltalk. It's the crowds of people and unfamiliar places that i get a little anxious about. Although, i tell myself often that i don't have a problem with that3

Well I survived lol. Wasn’t too bad at first and then the colour started, with the shading. Oh my goodness, yes it was painful, nail biting and eye popping 😂 but it was worth it because I love it!!I never imagined it would look this good! Once it heals I will post a pic. All in memory of my dearest nan!3
-
I'm glad it went well Poppy and once it's healed you will be glad you had it done so well done you.1
-
Oh that’s great Poppy, it’ll be nice to see it once it’s healed.1
-
Thanks Lou, I will definitely post a pic!1
-
Well done Poppy for going through with the pain
Looking forward to seeing a picture1 -
Here it is a little earlier than promised. Not healed yet of course but I love it. It represents my late nan and myself.
A shortened version of her name that I often called her and a nickname she always called me for as long as I can remember. We lose our loved ones at some point in our lives but they always live on in our memories!!It took me over 10 years to have the courage to do this but finally I did it.6 -
Looks lovely Poppy. Nice detail and I like the colours. Quite classy I think.
Looks a bit painful as well!! I hope it heals up quickly.
Thanks for sharing.
Out of curiosity...I believe if I remember right you have a pain condition, did that make it easier to deal with the tattoo pain or harder? Or no different?1 -
Thanks mustang! It's only painful now if i brush my arm against something. The colours are still quite vibrant because it was only done Saturday, they will tone down a little once it's healed. I wash it 4 times a day and then put tattoo goo on it so it doesn't dry out.At first it didn't feel painful when she started down the bottom on the stalks. Then she got to the colour and yes it was extremely painful.Yes i have a pain conditions and i think having those made it easier to deal with the pain but It was still teeth clenching, nail biting and throat gripping haha. I'm not the sort of person that will stay in bed all the time due to my conditions, i will just deal with them in my own way.0

Thanks for the info Poppy
I'd be interested to see another pic in a couple of weeks when it tones down, if you are happy to share.
Wear it proudly1
