Hi, my name is phump! Had my first seizure, does anyone have any recommendations?

I had my first seizure 10 days ago, all very new to me and the family. Husband ran out to buy me an Apple Watch and downloaded siezalert app. Does anyone else have experience with the app or anything similar they might recommend?

Hello @phump
Welcome to the community!
I'm afraid I don't have any experience, but I have popped your post into our physical and neurological impairments section of the forum. Hopefully you'll be able to get more answers about the app and more recommendations.
I would also suggest speaking to your GP if you haven't already. Your local pharmacist may have some advice too0 -
Hi @phump I really feel for you, seizures are horrible. I had daily seizures for almost 10 years until I got them under control with a combination of medication and diet in 2018. I’m afraid I’ve no experience with apps. They were definitely more common when I was stressed, tired and if I’d been drinking the night before. If I could give you one piece of advice: prioritise sleep. And just like @Hannah_Scope said, make sure to see your GP. Go with details - what time of day did it happen, detail of the seizure e.g did you lose consciousness.Hope this helps.0

Full t/c seizure? It can be scary, especially if you can't remember much. They had time to do an EEG yet? Mri etc to see if it was epileptic in nature or a general seizure with non epileptic reasons?
The watch is just a tool but it's very useful, there's similar options for those with android phones or tablets. My pixel watch 2 can detect falls, high HR, sleep patterns etc. Tech is only gonna get better. I'm typing this using voice recognition for example.

I remember when I had my first seizure. I think it was more scary for the people around me, for me I was more confused as to how and why it happened. Thus was about 9 years ago and I've had them on and off since.
It wasn't until years and many seizures later that I saw neurologist and got diagnosed with a functional neurological disorder. (Basically nervous system doesn't function properly and causes all sorts of symptoms such as non-epileptic seizures.) And because they're non-epileptic, then epilepsy meds don't work so I'm basically just left to deal with it myself. I did find that the keto diet and excercise helps massively though.
If it becomes more regular or a concern for you then definitely ask for a neurological referal from your GP.
I have no idea about the app (I'm an android user) but wouldn't go by that anyway!
So yeah it could be a one off, it could be the start of something more serious.
Hope you're all good!
