Reclaiming paid hardship payments

Hello, I’m Angie and I have just today came across an article about people who have been sanctioned. But the article says if you have paid back a hardship payment, you can apply to reclaim the money. BUT THE ISSUE. I’m order to apply you had to have done this by JUNE 19th 2023. At no time when myself or my husband spoke with his UC work coach or the person whom we spoke with about his hardship payment did they ever tell us he could make a claim for pack paid hardship awards. My still husband but we’re separated has been sanctioned 3 times in past 12 months. He has bad memory loss issues which the DWP are well aware of. But regardless of the circumstances that lead to his sanctions. How many people who have been sanctioned actually know that they could have reclaimed back paid sanctioned hardship payments. I find this disturbing that the government DWP are quick to sanction and take the money they give people but never seem to advertise the schemes that they put in place that will help people. If there is anyone who reads this in the same situation or knows someone who is please comment as I hope to try and help my husband with his and others that are interested. Thank you for reading this.
Kind regards; Angie15479

Yes I myself have been through this process so I know how that system works. Also I’m in the process of completing his Adult disability claim (PIP) through the person dealing with my Adult disability claim. Also I’m trying to get his claim processed for reclaiming paid Hardship payments. This I just recently seen. With a claim date of 19th June 2023. And surprise this is something the DWP did not widely publish. We didn’t even get told about this when we spoke with several people at DWP regarding his sanctions. This must stop that they don’t tell people important information through their universal credit journal or if they have telephone appointments with their UC coach. Thanks for commenting
