I received a pip award text message 3 weeks and 2 days ago saying i would receive a letter about my award and payment in 2 weeks. its been 3 weeks and 2 days and i have received no letter and no payment. is it normal to not get the letter within the 2 weeks? how long after the award do you get payment usually? has the delay happened to anyone else?

I received the text Monday, said I'd receive award letter in 2 weeks. I rang today and they said that the backpayment would be paid tomorrow. And my payments would begin at the end of July. I started the application at the end of March, so it's been very quick.

You will need to ring PIP to ask them because they are the only ones that can tell you what's happened.

I received my text Thursday last week, and tomorrow is five working days. Today my bank account is showing a £10 payment is expected on Monday. Given my claim is back dated to Jan 2022, could this be a place holder?

I’m not sure I’m afraid as all banks are different mine doesn’t show anything until it actually goes in to the account .
might be worth ringing PIP to find out maybe ?

What text message did you receive? If it was "we have awarded you PIP" then you will need to ring them to ask about the money that's owed. The £10 could be the Christmas bonus from last year.

I got "We have awarded you PIP. We have sent you a decision letter explaining the award." I know that the £150 cost of living payment is to be back dated, I didn't think the £10 Christmas would be though.

The cost of living payment would that come separately from the back dated payment ?

Yes. CoL payments are administered separately.

Of course the christmas bonus will be because you were entitled to it at that time because your PIP award is from Jan 2022.

You're not thick at all. The benefits system is a minefield. I've been advising people for quite a few years now and have claimed benefits myself for 10 years. I've learnt a lot over those years from personal experience and research for my own claims, as well as learning from very knowledgeable people.

The money you received in your bank is what they owed you from the date you rang to start your claim, as i advised on another thread. Your 4 weekly payments will start in about 3-4 weeks after you received that payment. Money owed has nothing to do with your 4 weekly payments going forward.

There's many people that think they may only be entitled to a small amount but when they're awarded it's a higher award. The same as some people think they're entitled to a higher award but only received a lower award or no award at all. This is all part of not fully understanding the PIP descriptors and why they mean, perfectly normal because a lot of people don't.

I came back to this post today to check on exactly that. So I've had my back pay, my £10 Christmas Bonus, and my £150 cost of living. I am surprised that it can be another 4 weeks from getting the back pay, as that takes will be about 10 weeks from my tribunal, and the back pay was what the calculator said I should get from the claim date to the tribunal. Not complaining just curious more than anything

Have you received the money they owe you from the start of your claim? If you have then the comment you quoted is referring to your 4 weekly payments after the backdated money.
