It sounds like you really loved your work0

@Hannah_Scope The first since 1865! Wow! I have always wanted to go along the Jurassic Coast but I've never found the time and whenever holiday does come up there always seems to be somewhere else to go.

It's always the way! Especially if it is a family holiday or a holiday you take because say a wedding or birthday celebration is happening in the same area!
It'll have to be a goal for next year!0 -

I mean, I wanted my own space ship, and to go to the moon, maybe a Ferrari or 2, but the money didn't really matter to me1 -
@michael57 I think if many of us could do the jobs we love to do as hobbies, and still have enough for day to day, mental health issues would decline rapidly! When searching for work myself, I did have to take into account what the maximum is I could do with my health, to get the maximum pay. I think we sometimes forget that those, especially in the disability community, will need to retire earlier than planned. Best advice I got was to work as hard for as much as I can and set up a private pension to pop it away in
I do also think, life experiences come with a higher cost now. Been squirrelling money away since last year to get tickets to see Taylor SwiftBut I can see how, having the latest iPhone or gadget isn't a necessity.

@66Mustang A space ship?!1

Hannah_Scope said:@DayDreamBeliever I studied psychology too! Did you want to work with animals broadly or did you have a specific animal you wanted to work with?0

@Hannah_Scope
I respect and agree with your views about not having the latest iPhone or gadget. I don't think these things are necessary at all!
But, is giving money to someone who is already very very rich, to make her even richer, not in the same category as wanting the latest iPhone? The money you give her is likely to be a lot to you - maybe enough to support you for a week - but for her, it will sustain her lifestyle for maybe 5 or 10 minutes.
Just a random thought - not trying to cause disagreement among the community or anything like that.0 -
@66Mustang I didn't want to be rich per say but I DID want a house with a swimming pool and still do! But I don't forsee that happening 😂0

@DayDreamBeliever That's amazing! I often see the mischief that the lions get up to on Animal Park! Where in South Africa were you when you volunteered?
@66Mustang Oh I understand your point. I am going for the experience. I used to spend all my pocket, birthday and Christmas money going to concerts before I got sick. From small to large venues. They are memories I cherishIt's lucky for loads of people these days that technology means you can be a fan and not have to spend a lot. Like with Spotify and YouTube, it means you can stream music without downloading or buying an album. Sure they still get revenue from ads but that isn't costing me other than say 30 seconds of time.
I think if it makes you happy and has value to you without compromising your day to day finances, great! I feel for those who are in that mindset that, having the latest item makes you popular, or shows that wealth has meaning. Especially when young, as kids can be very mean1 -
I have to say I think I'm quite glad we can't have children at 13 work 65 hours a week. That sounds horrible for a child. I understand it was fine back then of course, just glad time have changed as you say.

@rustledjimm I love seeing kids be kids
One of my neighbours boys was playing in the entry the other week and I could hear him running away from the dragon that lives in the trees

@Sandy_123 that's sounds nice.
Later in life I often wondered what it would be like to run a small B&B or something like that.
@66Mustang A space ship I could just imagine that what an adventure lol.
I myself have never thought or wanted to be rich just comfortable my own home and a garden and I would be happy with that.
(Oh and maybe a library lol 📚)0 -

It sure was, Hannah & it was in Southampton. I went there for a look just last week & it's now covered with an old corrugated roof, fenced in & surrounded by weeds, but still there & you can just about see in.
