I was stabbed a few years ago

Apologies if this post is in the wrong place I’m just unsure where to post, in 2021 I was stabbed 3 times in the leg and once in the face in a situation I couldn’t even tell you why it happened, anyway I’ve recently been suffering from nightmares waking up in the middle of the night, petrified to leave my house this wasn’t a problem for a while because I was self medicating but now I get triggered and it feels a lot like trauma.
I’m already on PIP & Lwcra for mental health as I have been for years, but in terms of the suffering of the trauma of being stabbed is there any help or benefits out there for me?

Sorry to hear this. LCWRA is part of UC, which has replaced all the old benefits. As you’re also claiming PIP the only other benefits possible to claim is Council tax reduction if your responsible for the council tax bill.
For help and support you can refer yourself for a needs assessment. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/social-care-and-support-guide/help-from-social-services-and-charities/getting-a-needs-assessment/0 -
Wow, @krj98 thank you for sharing that. You're very welcome here and we'll do what we can to help. It sounds like you've understandably been affected by what happened. Can I just quickly check if you're receiving any support at all with this? It's a lot to be tackling by yourself and are you still self-medicating?
I'm going to send a quick email over, but I also wanted to encourage you to speak to your GP, if you haven't already, about getting some support with the trauma you've experienced. You shouldn't have to tackle this by yourself and they'll be able to refer you on to relevant services, but in the meantime it's also worth checking out Mind's resources on Complex PTSD and Victim Support (08081689111) as well.
